Per Aspera Ad Astra ~
Through trials and storms, we reach for the skies,
To stars above where our courage lies.
In struggle’s grip, our spirit soars,
The path is hard, but it opens doors.
I started learning Latin as a freshman in high school, and honestly, it was just supposed to be another class at first. But over time, I realized Latin wasn’t just about memorizing old vocab and conjugations—it felt like diving into an ancient world that’s left its mark on so many things today. Learning Latin is like having a secret key to understanding the roots of languages like Spanish, French, and even English. It also opened up a window to Roman history, literature, and culture, making me feel connected to something bigger.
One of the coolest parts is reading original works by people like Caesar and Cicero in my Latin class. There’s something special about seeing their words just as they wrote them, without relying on a translation. And even though the grammar can be tricky, it’s like solving a puzzle that sharpens my thinking and attention to detail. For me, Latin has been a way to connect my love for languages with my interest in history, and it’s given me a new perspective on how the past still shapes our present.
